Music National Service Initiative Looking for Interns

picture-31People eager to support national service and music can contribute as interns for the Music National Service Initiative (MNSi).

Kiff Gallagher’s Music National Service Initiative has recently launched three new internships in Idealist.org.

MNSi is looking for self starters who will be critical players in MNSi’s fundraising and community-building strategy, who love project management, have an eye for detail and who will follow through. The “Musical Peace Corps” is looking for:

Campus and Community Organizer who will strengthen and expand the volunteer base for Music National Service through event coordination and promotion on local campuses; establish partnerships with existing volunteer organizations; and support staff in administrative tasks related to outreach and development. Experience in Public Relations, Event Planning and/or Campaign Organization a plus.

Social Media / Online Organizer who will create and update content (for Facebook, Idealist.org, myspace, YouTube, Network for Good, Volunteermatch.org, etc.), edit audio and visual features, as well assess and implement appropriate widgets, tools, and other web-based resources. MAC proficiency a must. The job also requires excellent writing skills, tech and web-savvy, design sense and enthusiasm for the online medium to communicate ideas.

Start-up and Program Development Intern who will support the Program Development Director in planning and implementing both day-to-day and long term development and fundraising strategies.

Each position is part-time, and yields a $150/month stipend. All applicants should possess excellent communication skills as well as the ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without continuous supervision or structure. MAC proficiency a must.

The Music National Service Initiative (MNSi) is a new social enterprise dedicated to strengthening and expanding the field of music-based volunteerism and service. In August 2009, MNSi is launching a “musical Peace Corps” called MusicianCorps and a “music volunteer” network called MusicianMentors that will expand access to music education and improve youth achievement in disadvantaged public schools and communities. To learn more about MNSi, check out their web site, and also the most recent Idealist podcast with guest Kiff Gallagher.

To apply, send your resume and cover letter to intern@musicnationalservice.org by April 12, 2009.
